Spoiler Alert

Dear TV Show Promotion Department,

I recognize that with each day a new channel is launched, a new device to view said channel is created, and all this creates more and more time to fill with entertaining shows to hopefully be viewed. You’re behind the eight ball in getting viewers to wade through their ADD and find the show you’re hoping they’ll watch on a continuous basis. With this in mind, I excuse the 1/3-of-a-screen in-show ads, the sound effect laden promos, and the never ending bombardment of new show advertisements.

But once you have me hooked on a show, why do you need to let me know what’s going to happen next episode? Hell, even worse is the “coming up” promo you use before a commercial break. Maybe I’m giving too much credit to the idea that the majority of viewers don’t have ADD, but a bit of suspense between episodes or just commercial breaks might do viewership some good. Coming up…a salutation!

Yours truly,

A Loyal Viewer
